Women represent 41.4 per cent of adult spectators at Aussie rules games, or at least they did in 2009-10, the last the time ABS did a survey. Despite women’s clear interest in footy, they’re severely under-represented in the broadcast media. Fox Footy doesn’t employ a single woman commentator.
Women are under-represented on club boards, with only the Bulldogs having three female directors. Gold Coast don’t have a single woman on their board.
